in the ration store are much healthier than polished toor dal sold in stores.
These healthy toor dal are wasted without being included in the cooking as the
quality is low. In this post you can see how to turn this HEALTHY toor dal into delicious.
Ingredients
for grind

200 gm Toor dal
·
4 green chilli
Ingredients
for vada
·
2 big Onion (chopped)
·
2 sprig Drumstick leaves
·
½ handful Cabbage(chopped)
·
½ inch Ginger(finely chopped)
·
1 sprig Curry leaves
·
8 no Garlic (chopped)
·
1 tsp Anise
·
½ tsp Cumin
·
½ tsp Asafetida powder
·
Salt as per taste
·
Oil for fry

How to make ration thuvaram paruppu vada
Firs the
toor dal need to be cleaned with a Muram without stones, husk. The Muram is a
simple tool used in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu to extract grains from husk
and stones. Such extraction is called Pudaithal. If you have this tool clean
toor dal with this. If you do not have it, clean as you normally would
Wash the
lentils minimum 3-4 times. Only then will the bad smell in it go away
Pour enough water over the washed toor dal and soak 1 - 1:30 hours
After 1 ½ hour
drain the water. add the green chilli and grind to a coarse without water like vada batter
Before grind take and aside little toor dal
Take the grind toor dal in a bowl and add into the toor dal
set aside before the grind onion, drumstick leaves, cabbage, ginger, curry
leaves, garlic, anise, cumin, asafetida powder, salt as per taste then and mix
up everything well
Now vada mixture ready for making vada
Heat the oil in frying pan.
Once oil is hot. Take a small amount of the vada mixture and first roll up it then put it in the palm of your hand and tap like this.
Add vada into the frying pan. Keep the low flame and fry 1 minute.
When cooked one side, turn the other side. Fry the vada till they turn golden and become aromatic
now vada ready take it and drain the extra oil
now serave with mint chutney(puthina chutney)

water
v Cook over low flame. It helps to cook well without burned the vada
