A rustic
quick traditional Indian spices and fragrant village style fish curry. This
fish curry recipe truly is the best I ever made. In childhood my mother made
fish curry like this in my village. Once you have make this fish curry you will
do it again and again.
Popularly
known as Gramathu meen kulambu in tamil, this village style fish curry is very famous
all over the country. Eat this fish curry which is delicious with boiled
rice,idli, dosa. If you don’t have any experience in fish curry recipe this is

Ingredients
for spices mixer

tsp tamarind (small gooseberry sized)

3
tbs coriander powder
·
1/4
tbs turmeric powder
·
1
tbs red chilli powder
·
1
tomato
·
1/4
cub coriander leaves
·
1/4
cub curry leaves
·
Rock
salt as needed
Ingredients
for Fish curry
·
½
kg fish
·
100gm
small onion
·
10-15
Garlic
·
1/2
tsp anise
·
1/2
tbs mustard
·
1/2
tbs fenugreek
·
1/2 cub coconut milk
·
Salt
as per taste

Steps
to make fish pepper fry recipe
1)
Extract
tamarind juice with ½ cups water
2)
Add
all the ingredients in tamarind juice i.e coriander powder, turmeric powder,
chilli powder, coriander leaves, curry leaves, tomato(sliced) and adjust salt
if needed
3)
These
all well mashed in hand and dissolve
Making village fish curry
1) Coarsely grind both the onion and garlic separately in grindstone(ammi kal) and set aside.
2)
While
you grind in stone the traditional village taste and aroma is will get it. If you
do not have a grindstone(ammi kal) no problem grind it in mixie
3)
Heat
the 2 tbs oil in pan or tawa. When oil is hot add anise, mustard, fenugreek,
let the mustard seeds crackle.
4)
Add
grinded garlic in the pan. Fry for a few seconds and add grinded onion. Fry the
onion until get rid of raw smell for 2 minutes
5)
Now
add hand mashed dissolved mixer. Add 1 – 1 ½
cup of water, ½ cub coconut milk,
salt as per requirement and mix well. Boiling it until gravy was come out slightly
thickness for 3-4 minutes
6)
Now
add the washed and cleaned fish pieces in the gravy. Now put a lid on close and
allow it to boil till fish is done for 4-5 minutes
7) Serve
hot the traditional village style fish curry with rice, idli, dosa, idiyappam
Note:
v The best part of this village fish curry is adding coriander powder and
coconut milk
v Cooking fish curry on low medium heat it will help the fish absorb all
the spices and seasonings
